Get Better Soon, Jerry Remy

Last Wednesday, Jerry Remy announced he would be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the NESN broadcast booth in order to fully recover from the effects of cancer surgery undergone last year. For me, I didn’t even know he had cancer until only a few days ago, when my mother, of all people, mentioned it to me. His return to the booth was supposed to be immediate, but infection and pneumonia set back his return date, and as mentioned, he is unsure as to when he will return. My thoughts and prayers, along with that of every person in Red Sox nation, go out to Jerry and his family, and I know I speak for everyone in wishing that he gets well soon.

In a similar thread, Dom DiMaggio, a great Red Sox leadoff man and seven time all star, passed away a few days ago. He was 92.
Ted Williams considered him “the best leadoff man in the American League” and, while being overshadowed by his brother Joe, was among the most underrated players to ever play the game. He played for the Red Sox for eleven years, and, like many great players of the time, lost

“He was a great teammate and an even better human being” said Red Sox principal owner John W. Henry.
Not much more can be said. Again, the thoughts and prayers of Red Sox nation and myself go out to the DiMaggio family, and the Red Sox organization, for the loss of a truly good ballplayer.
